Pearl Jewelry Design.
Q.I am just starting out selling... and... it meets my costs & fees and then gives me some dollars on the side to buy more beads. I'm afraid they won't sell if I raise the price... have you looked at finished jewelry prices lately? But then again, I'm hoping to get people hooked like junkies so bidding wars will ensue. And one day they'll say "Why, oh why didn't I buy one of her bracelets before she got so popular?"
A.I don't sell jewelry. That having been said, one thing that differentiates your bracelets from many others is that, even without knowing exactly how you made the bracelet, I can see how much work that went into it. Sometimes a particular piece of jewelry might be very difficult to make but unless I'm educated, I don't know that. And consequently, I don't always appreciate why the jewelry is priced the way it is. I think that factor might drive down the price of some wonderful pieces of handmade jewelry. I got my confidence back. I had no less than 15 people say " you have wonderful design and color sense". Or, "your jewelry work is by far the best here". I didn't have a particular piece or type of piece that sold better that the rest. Shows are weird that way. I did 4 shows one year, and the first 3 got no action at all on my freshwater pearl collection. The last show, I nearly sold out of freshwater pearl jewelry. Yesterday, if anything, people were going for more elaborate, fringy kinds of things.
