Who can Jewelry Repair Jewelry Watch?

Q.repair eyeglasses. The staff of our watch repair shop are often asked to repair jewelry and occassionally asked to repair eyeglasses. The staff declines in both instances and refers the person to an appropriate shop for jewelry or optical repairs. The staff have asked why the person with broken glasses just doesn't go to a nearby optical shop for the repair and the answers are "I did not buy the glasses there (they were not purchased from us either) or the optical shop could not repair them and they wanted to sell a new pair of glasses. I have asked an optician friend if he is ever asked to repair watches and he said, "Of course not, I don't know a damn thing about watch repair." He only plies his own craft. Some watchmakers who have attempted to repair eyeglasses, a task they may or may not be qualified to do, have caused further damage to the glasses and bought a new pair of glasses for their customer. That is not a good way to operate a professional watch repair shop
