Getting my ears pierced - was Diamond Stud Earrings .
Q.I went back to H Samuels and they have a small gold hoop earring I can have my ears pierced with if I'd like. The girl that does the ear piercing even suggested I had the hoop at the bottom of my lobe and a diamond stud next to it. Many of my female friends are keen on the idea of me wearing an earring(s), one of them even offered to take me and hold my hand during the experience! However, I am still unsure if I should get both ears done or just my left ear. I realise just my left ear is very 80's, but still think getting both my ears done could look a bit girlie and I could get some "stick" from some of my male friends. Any comments ???
A.In my opinion--and it is just an opinion--not a whole lot of men can carry off the both-ears-pierced look, whereas any man can wear a single earring: it has that piratical overtone, I guess. I personally like the look of two piercings in one ear, a stud above a hoop. Just don't go nuts and get six or eight all the way up to the cartilage. Hardly anybody on earth can pull that one off. For what it's worth, you won't need a hand-holder: it's essentially painless, very quick, more of a pinch than anything. Maybe you should try the one and see how you like it; if it doesn't suit you, you can take it out, and if it does, you can get the second one, in the same or the other ear. And then if *that* doesn't suit, take *it* out. The nice thing about ear piercings is that they're reversible. And cheap. I'd go for it - in both ears. Don't worry about what others think. Only one ear pierced looks very 80s, and I prefer the symmetrical look. I'm a straight UK male and I have both my ears triple-pierced, with small gold hoops at the bottom, diamond studs in the middle and small gold studs at the top.
