Discount Pearl JewelryQ.I've enjoyed reading everyone's descriptions of their summer vacations and always pay attention to the fashion finds each person brings home. What are the notable fashion-related souvenirs you've brought home, this year or in the past? I try to pick up at least one thing on every trip...here are some of my favorites: -an onyx/malachite beaded choker from a small shop on Grand Cayman -vintage lacy tops from The Garage, a great vintage store in Berlin -an intricate Navajo silver cuff with a very detailed feather design from a roadside stand somewhere outside Flagstaff, AZ -s/s black cotton Cynthia Rowley top with black flower appliques from her shop in Soho What are your favorite fashion souvenirs?........ A.Venice - Any and all of my venetian glass jewelry but especially my black/white oval glass barrette. Why oh why, didn't I get more hair doodads there???? Florence - short black handmade leather jacket that I wore for years until I started accumulating so many other (more flattering on me) leather jackets that it had to go. I found a new home for w/ a very dear AFer who knows who she is. Also from Venice, a handmade black leather hobo shoulderbag. It's nearly carry on size it's so big and though dangerously large for an everyday bag, it sure comes in handy when travelling. Cambridge, England - T-shirt with stylized drawing of punter in red, yellow, cobalt, black, on white background Paris - Leather hairbands from a French company whose name escapes me but doesn't really export many of their products except to London London - My burgundy pashmina from Pickett and Wolford tights bought at a deep discount from a sale table at Dickins and Jones New York - Black leather cord necklace and bracelet with silver trim Toronto - Years ago at the Canadian National Exhibition, my folks and I stumbled across all of this gorgeous diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald jewelry set in sterling silver and my Mom and I picked up a few goodies for ourselves. I have a ring w/ diamonds and sapphires similar to Diana's engagement ring but much smaller (natch!) and a necklace w/ a simple diamond/sapphire dangle. Not really a pendant as it's part of the chain, but more of a dangle. San Francisco - A pearl ring and necklace where the pearls were bought from a vendor on the trocadero who had the "Pick an Oyster" tank where you could select a shell w/ a pearl inside of it.
