Are Diamonds A Good Investment?
Q.Now, on the other hand as person who works in the trade, and can tell the difference between diamond and simulants... I would be furiuos if someone tried to decieve me. A CZ is max a few dollars at wholesale, they are not very durable, and they do not last forever. Buy me the real thing, or buy me nothing. As to synthetics, they are still very yellow, and very expensive. what's the point?? your not saving much money, and the stones are ugly.
A.I have a wonderful source for cubic zirconia, we stock dozens of sizes and cuts for replacement stones for commercial rings... They look great and while they wear about like garnet, for ffive or six bucks for a very nice stone that's attractive, they make great earrings & pendants too :) I like beatiful stuff, regardless of what it costs... Some of the colored CZ is Amazing!!! I get this older style antique ring in, with about fifteen diamonds scattered in the top in low crowns, worn out and mangled... ...one melle is gone, about a three point singlecut diamond... So I stopped the job since they'd figured $25 retail based on a 250% markup on the service, setting... Well, it needed a new crown so I flips the bag over and started to write my estimate for a fifteen dollar crown ($40+ to customer) when I notice that they priced the replacement singlecut diamond at $66.00... I mean sixty six god damn dollars, for christ's sake!!!! ...sorry.... ...got taken by the moment....
