Jewelry Questions

Cheap Loose Diamonds.

Q.Recently I found out that my wife had it apraised and the value of the ring was very low. The reason i was told was that the diamonds were real but, they were brown diamonds dirt cheap What do you care? You were satisfied when you bought the ring that it was worth 2000 bucks and it didn’t change (e.g. turn green) after you bought it. It’s not an investment so you shouldn’t be worried about resale value.

A.A few years ago I had bought my wife a 2 ct diamond ring for our wedding. I had gone to mission jewlers. I had paid over $2,000 dollars for this ring. Recently I found out that my wife had it apraised and the value of the ring was very low. The reason i was told was that the diamonds were real but, they were brown diamonds dirt cheap. I was told that the stones were worth no more than $50 , the gold was worth more than the diamonds. I was very angry but, ther was nothing I could do except. Let it be know, so if you are planning to buy any jewlery dont buy it from a jewlery chain. They buy the cheapest diamonds and charge you upwards of 200 to 300% for them when you can buy a loose brown diamond for a few dollars and have some old chains or jewlery made into a ring and set the stone's in for much less than you could buy at a retail chain. you were ripped off. But, you wanted to be ripped off. You’re just upset that some punk jeweler ripped you off instead of the DeBeers diamond cartel. Even white diamonds should be dirt-cheap. Next time, consider cubic zirconium. Their quality is high and consistent. And, the about the only way most people will recognize that they’re fake is by figuring that a bunch of brown-diamond buying bumpkins couldn’t afford real diamonds that big and nice.
