conversion size from 32 to 36 linen , blackworkQ.I was planning on doing it on my Edinburgh linen which I already have but started wondering about the choice. In his book, he suggested using 32 count linen but Edinburgh is 36. Will this make it even more wonderfully detailed ( the smaller the work the more detailed it usually looks) or will it somehow not work as the beads etc. are geared to the 32 count. Have you done any of this collection or any of his ? I haven't started yet and want some input prior to starting. It is my first venture into blackwork but am an experienced needlewoman of over 30 years. I know it will make a smaller piece. I tried using my handy dandy gadget stitch converter and can't quite figure out the new conversion. Instead of a 4.25 inch square , it would now make it what size? I came up with 2.25 and that can't be right, right? A.Assuming that you are working over 2 most of the beads that are used in cross stitch seem to be 11's. If they look too big for the project, check out sites that have beads sold for beading projects (I have used Shipwreck Beads, Fire Mountain Beads, and General Bead without problems but there are many good ones) and match the colors as close as you can in smaller beads (14's or 15's are the smallest that I have found sold recently, although I am told that smaller ones have been made). The good news is that you can buy beads a lot cheaper than the small packages sold for embroidery, the bad news is that you end up with a lot more beads which cry out to be used, so you learn to make beaded jewelry and then have more projects to do.
